National desk:
February 14, 2019, is remembered as the day of the Pulwama attack, which is observed as a Black Day in India. On this day, a suicide bomber linked to the Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) targeted a convoy of CRPF personnel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.
The attack, which happened around 3:15 PM IST, killed 40 CRPF soldiers and the attacker, Adil Ahmad Dar, a local resident. This event is one of the cruel terrorist attacks on Indian security forces since the violence in Kashmir started in the late 1980s. In response, India carried out airstrikes on JeM camps in Balakot, Pakistan.
