N Biren Singh resigns 21 months after Manipur violence

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh resigned from his post on Sunday. The Governor has directed him to take charge till the formation of a new government. In such a situation, N Biren Singh will work as the acting Chief Minister of Manipur. There was a possibility of a no-confidence motion against him in the assembly session. Actually, this step has been taken amid the ethnic violence going on in the state for two years. More than 250 people have lost their lives in this violence. Earlier on Wednesday, Biren Singh along with several ministers met senior BJP leaders in Delhi. However, later he said that he was in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh.
