The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has launched the first cancer genome database of its kind in the country. It has been released on February 3, 2025 under the name 'India Cancer Genome Atlas'. It is expected that this database will prove to be a game changer in advancing cancer research.
It is worth noting that cancer is one of the deadliest diseases in the world. A recent report released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has also revealed that cancer patients are increasing rapidly in the world. The situation in India is also not very good.
