The Indian Army has joined hands with IIT, Guwahati to build bamboo bunkers for soldiers on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China in Arunachal Pradesh. These bunkers made of bamboo are as strong as traditional material but are very light in weight.
According to the Army, due to being very light in weight, it will be very easy to carry the material for making bunkers from one place to another, which will save time and labor.
On Tuesday, an MoU was signed in Guwahati between the 'Gajraj Corps' (4 Corps) of the Indian Army and IIT, Guwahati for research, design and fabrication of composite made of 'epoxy-bamboo'. The Indian Army will use this bamboo composite to build bunkers in high altitude areas.
