Thano of Uttarakhand became India's first writer village

The creation of the author village in Uttarakhand is an innovative experiment.  The aim is to provide writers with a place where they can live in the lap of nature with a calm mind and put their works on the ground and spend the last moments of their lives in the writer's village with dignity.  The first phase of construction of the author village has been completed and the next phase is under construction.  The village has been conceived by writer, author and politician, former Chief Minister and former Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
