Telangana government has started a state-wide household caste census. Telangana would be the third state to conduct a caste-based headcount as a result, after Andhra Pradesh and Bihar.
The Congress had promised to conduct a caste survey before the elections. This announcement is a step towards fulfilling that promise.
The goal of the caste census is to provide justice for marginalized groups such as OBCs, SCs, and STs, as well as to encourage the targeted and fair allocation of resources among all populations.
