Private airline Air India on Tuesday introduced its latest line of uniforms for cabin and cockpit crew, designed by Manish Malhotra. "The new liveries will be introduced phasewise over the next few months, starting with the entry into service of Air India's first Airbus A350 aircraft," the company said in a statement.
Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson told PTI that Air India's crew uniform is one of the world's most iconic uniforms in aviation history. The new crew uniforms perfectly reflect the essence of the airline's new identity, he said.
Inspired by India's heritage:::
Air India said the women's cabin crew attire consists of a ready-to-wear ombre saree with intricate patterns reminiscent of Indian heritage architecture (jharokha) and vistas (the new Air India logo icon), paired with a casual blouse and blazer.
Manish Malhotra said that his aim was to create a uniform that reflected the essence of India's diverse culture and traditions while also presenting a modern and sophisticated look. He has used such colors in the uniform which are the symbol of India. They hope that these uniforms will not only make the crew proud but will also leave a lasting impression on the guests while representing the warmth and hospitality that India is known for.
