Australia vs South Africa: Left-handed batsman Alex Carey has become the second Australian wicket-keeper after the great Rod Marsh to score a Test century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.  Alex Carey achieved this feat by scoring 111 runs on Wednesday on the third day of the second Test against South Africa.  This was also the first Test century of 31-year-old Carey.  He hit 13 fours in his innings of 149 balls.  He reached the three-figure mark in 131 balls.
Earlier, Rod Marsh scored an unbeaten 110 in the second innings of the 1977 Centenary Test in Melbourne.  This century of Alex Carey has come in his 15th Test.  This is the first century made by an Australian wicketkeeper in the last almost a decade.  Brad Haddin was the last Australian wicketkeeper to do so.  Haddin scored 118 runs in Adelaide in the 2013-14 Ashes.
