Raid on Trump home for nuclear papers: Attorney General signs search warrant himself, FBI recovers 12 red boxes

International Desk:

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has raided the home of former US President Donald Trump.  According to media reports, about 12 boxes of nuclear documents and other important items were seized from there during the search.  But information about whether FBI agents have found any nuclear records has not yet been released.  The FBI raided former President Trump's luxury Palm House and Mar-a-Lego resort on Tuesday, which did not disclose what was in the 12 boxes.  Two of Trump's closest friends said the raid was without notice.  Trump himself was not there when the agents raided.  This was believed to have been done so that Trump could influence the campaign and make it a political issue.
At a news conference Thursday, Attorney General Merrick Garland provided information about the operation.  However, he condemned the attacks on the FBI after the raid.  The attorney general said he personally approved the search warrant.

His comments came after the US Department of Justice decided to make the search warrant public.  On Thursday, the Justice Department asked a judge to make public a search warrant for the Mar-a-Ligo raid so people can know why it was being conducted.  The Republican Party has condemned the FBI following its actions against the former president.
Trump allegedly took a lot of documents with him when he left the White House last year.  The documents were transported to Mar-a-Lego in 15 large boxes.  Since then, U.S. intelligence agencies have been watching Trump and his close associates.  However, the FBI has yet to confirm the allegations.
"This has never happened to the US president before," Trump said.  Such measures have been taken despite the cooperation of investigating agencies.  It is like abusing the judicial system as a weapon.  This is an attack by hard-left Democrats.  They don't want me to contest the 2024 elections.
