Assam Trinamool Congress: Within a week of Assam's leader Ripun Bora joining the Trinamool Congress, party supremo Mamata Banerjee has appointed him as the Assam unit president.
After his appointment to the new post, Ripun Boral tweeted on Saturday and said, 'Thank you Trinamool Congress President Mamta Banerjee and General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee for showing faith in me and appointing the party's state president.  I will continue to work for the betterment of the state to the best of my ability.
Ripun Bora has been a former President of the Assam State Congress and a former Rajya Sabha member.  He reached Kolkata on April 17 along with his wife and former Congress MLA Monica Bora and son.  There he joined TMC at a simple program meeting Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Before joining Trinamool Congress, Boral sent his resignation letter to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.  In that letter, Ripun Bora said that a section of Congress leaders in Assam have maintained secret links with ruling BJP leaders and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.  Due to which the party is being harmed.  He also accused the Congress High Command of not taking any action in this matter.
