National Desk:
Amritpal Singh, the fugitive Khalistani leader and head of ‘Waris Punjab De’, was arrested by Punjab.  The accused had been hiding in Rodewal Gurudwara in Moga since Saturday evening.  Amritpal was reported to the police by former Akal Takht jathedar Jasvir Singh.
Punjab police have taken him to Amritsar after his arrest, sources said.  From there, the accused will be sent directly to Dibrugarh jail in Assam.  All of Amritpal's helpers are already incarcerated in this jail.
On February 23, 2023, Amritpal Singh and his supporters had stormed the Ajnala police station in Amritsar demanding the release of an associate.  The case had drawn strong criticism from the Punjab police and government.
About three weeks later, on March 18, the operation to arrest the main accused in the incident began.  But the fugitive Amritpal was deceiving the police teams.  However, now, 36 days later, the accused is in police custody and is being sent to Dibrugarh jail in Assam.
