This time, the Russian army attacked the "pro-Moscow" region of eastern Ukraine.  The Ukrainian government said on Tuesday that at least five civilians had been killed in shelling by Russian forces in the eastern town of Avdivka in the Donetsk region.  The number of seriously injured is 19.
Significantly, according to Moscow's claims, Donetsk is an independent republic.  The Russian army launched an attack on Ukraine on February 24.  Three days earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had recognized the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine (collectively known as "Donbass") as independent states.  The capital of that Donetsk is Avdivka.
It has been almost a month since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.  But most of Ukraine's major cities, including the capital Kiev, are still out of Putin's reach.  Instead, Russian forces have had to retreat from some areas in Ukraine, facing the death toll of troops and civilian volunteers.  News of the withdrawal of forces loyal to Volodymyr Zelensky in the Russian-occupied territory of eastern and central Ukraine, as well as in the east, has begun to surface.
It is alleged that the ambassador provided the information to Hussein.  Russia on Tuesday denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating "Similar, baseless allegations concerning Russia's intelligence have been made more than once.
