Anupama Upadhyay and Tharun Mannepally won the Kazakhstan International Challenge title

Indian badminton players Anupama Upadhyay and Tharun Mannepally won the women's and men's singles titles respectively at the Kazakhstan International Challenge Tournament in Uralsk on Saturday.
Anupama, 19, from Almora, won the Polish International Challenge last month.  He defeated compatriot Isharani Barua 21-15 21-16 in 41 minutes in the final to secure his second consecutive title.
 Tharun, 22, who was runner-up at the senior national championships in Guwahati in December last year, defeated eighth seed Soong Joo Wen of Malaysia 21-10, 21-19 to win his first international title.
 In the mixed doubles final, India's Sanjay Srivats Dhanraj and Manisha K lost to Malaysia's Wong TN See and Lim Chiv Sien 21-9, 7-21, 12-21.
