NATO celebrates 75th founding anniversary amid Russia-Ukraine war

NATO marked 75 years of collective defense in Europe and North America on Thursday.  This foundation day is being celebrated in the midst of the Russian and Ukrainian war.  The Estonian Foreign Minister said that Ukraine is being attacked daily.  He appealed for more military materials like air defense systems, drones and artillery shells for Ukraine.
“We need to give Ukraine these systems that we are not using to protect their people, civilian infrastructure and energy infrastructure.  He spoke ahead of a ceremony with his counterparts in Washington on April 4, 1949, to mark the day NATO's founding treaty was signed.  Big celebrations are planned as NATO leaders meet in Washington from July 9 to 11.
