The Uttarakhand Assembly has passed the Uniform Civil Code Bill on Wednesday

The Uttarakhand Assembly has passed the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill on Wednesday taking historic steps. Uttarakhand has become the first state to do so in independent India. The bill is presented by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the purpose of establishing a uniform marriage, divorce, land, property and heritage law for all citizens regardless of their religion.
