Assam: Examination Bill tabled in Assembly

The Assam government on Monday tabled a bill which aimed at restricting exam-time malpractices by imposing stringent measures against cheating, leaking of question papers and other such malice.
While a candidate found guilty of using unfair means will attract imprisonment upto three years and a fine of Rs 1 lakh, the proposed punishment and penalty is higher for those entrusted or authorised with the conduct of the public examination and others involved in the conspiracy involving leaking of question papers. They will be liable for imprisonment of five to 10 years and a fine of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 10 crore.
In addition, a candidate found guilty will be barred from appearing in any public examination for two years.
