India's state-of-the-art weather satellite is ready for launch. Its name is INSAT-3DS. The launch is likely to take place in February. The satellite has been sent from UR Rao Satellite Center in Bengaluru to Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. It will be launched from GSLV-F14 rocket.
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said that the main objective of this satellite is to provide information about land, sea, weather and emergency signal system. Also, the power and capability of the current INSAT series satellites has to be increased. Apart from this, it will also help in relief and rescue operations.
There are six different types of geostationary satellites in INSAT-3 series satellites. The seventh satellite will be launched next month. However, its date has not been disclosed by ISRO yet. All the earlier satellites of INSAT series were launched between 2000 and 2004. Through which information related to communication, TV broadcast and weather was available.
