Arif's death sentence for attack on Red Fort upheld, SC dismisses review petition

Red Fort Attack Case: The Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Mohammad Arif alias Ashfaq, convicted of attacking the Red Fort in the year 2000.  The Supreme Court has dismissed Arif's review application against the sentence.  Chief Justice of India U. U.Lalit . A bench headed by Lalit said that the allegation against Arif has been proved in this case.  We are dismissing the review application while upholding the Supreme Court's decision on the death penalty.
Let us inform that in December 2000, three people, including an army jawan, were killed in the attack on the Red Fort.  Arif was arrested on 25 December 2000.  The lower court sentenced him to death in October 2005.  In 2007, the Delhi High Court upheld his death sentence.  After this, in the year 2011, the Supreme Court also upheld his death sentence.  Arif filed a review petition and curative petition against this decision.  But these applications were also rejected by the Supreme Court.  The Supreme Court had said in its decision that the attack on the Red Fort was an attack on the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country by foreigners.
