APSC scam: Advocate Pallav Katki appointed as Special Public Advocate

The Assam government has appointed Lawyer Pallav Kataki as special public prosecutor for the trial of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) recruitment scam case.  The Governor also released Special Public Advocate Pradyut Kumar Bora with immediate effect.The court has appointed advocates Pankaj Pratim Dutta and Sarnudra Gupta Dutta as additional public prosecutors to assist Pallav Katki. The state government had constituted two committees to probe the irregularities in the 2014 Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) examinations.The two committees were also tasked with taking action on the report of the investigation into the 2012 APSC examination.  The government had also constituted a five-member committee to review the report submitted by the APSC on the 2012 examinations.The 2012 APSC examination irregularities came to light in 2016. There were also reports that several ACS and APS officers took jobs through crooked paths during Rakesh Pal's tenure.  Police have arrested 60 officers in several cases.
