For the first time in history, an engineer has been appointed as the country's army chief

 The new Indian Army Chief Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey.  For the first time, an engineer has been appointed as the country's army chief.  Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey, the 29th Chief of Army Staff, was the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indian Army.

 On April 30, the current army chief, General M.M.  Norway will retire.  According to sources, before retirement, he may be appointed as the country's new defense officer.  He will be replaced by Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey.  Lieutenant Pandey will assume new responsibilities from May 1.
 Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey was in charge of the 117th Engineer Regiment in the Line of Control (LoC) of Jammu and Kashmir.  Lieutenant General Pandey's full name is Lieutenant General Manoj Chandrasekhar Pandey.  He had earlier held the post of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command.  He has also worked in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.  Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (CNCAN), according to Army records.  After Naravane on April 30, he will be the army's supreme office-bearer.
 The country's first CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 13 Army personnel were killed in a helicopter crash in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu on December 6.  The Air Force MI-17V5 crashed near Nilgiris in Coonoor.  The helicopter crashed near Nagaj Nilgiris at around 12.40 pm.
 Defense Chief Bipin Rawat was in a helicopter with his wife Madhulika Rawat.  The helicopter was carrying 14 people including Brigadier LS Lidder, Lieutenant Colonel Harjinder Singh, NK Gursevak Singh, Jitendra Kumar, L / NK Vivek Kumar, L / NKB Chai Teja, Hav Satpal.  Bipin Rawat was rescued and taken to a hospital.  But his death was followed by mourning. The whole country mourned his death.
