International Desk:
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar indirectly attacked China and its close ally Pakistan during an open debate at the UN Security Council.  S Jaishankar said on Wednesday (December 14) that multilateral forums are being misused to justify terrorism and protect the conspirators.
Presiding over an open debate on the topic 'International Peace and Security and New Directions for Reformed Multilateralism' at the UNSC, Jaishankar also said that the conflict has created a situation that the multilateral platform cannot have a passive attitude.  He said that on the challenge of terrorism, the world is coming together with a more united response, but multilateral forums are being misused to justify and protect the conspirators.
Jaishankar was apparently referring to China, which has blocked efforts by India and the US on several occasions to list terrorists such as Pakistan's Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar.  The External Affairs Minister said that the situation is no better when it comes to climate action and climate justice.  Jaishankar said that instead of addressing the relevant issues at the appropriate forum, we have seen attempts to divert attention and mislead.
