Sanskrit will be taught in madrassas in Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand Madrassa Education Board (UMEB) has proposed to include Sanskrit as a compulsory subject in 416 madrassas in the state.  The initiative aims to enrich the educational curriculum and support the academic development of students.  The board is planning to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state’s Sanskrit department to formalize the shift.

 UMEB plans to introduce Sanskrit as a compulsory subject in 416 madrassas, directly impacting over 70,000 students.
 A formal proposal has been prepared, and discussions are underway with the Sanskrit Department.
