Today is World Ozone Day 2024

Newsdesk:

Every year on September 16, the whole world celebrates as World Ozone Day.  The day is dedicated to highlighting the importance of protecting and preserving the ozone layer in our atmosphere.  The ozone layer is located about 15-35 kilometers above the surface of the earth and plays an important role in blocking harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun.

The main objective of celebrating Ozone Day is to raise awareness about the protection and conservation of the ozone layer.  In 1985, scientists found that the ozone layer was thinning, which became known as the ozone hole.  The major reason was the use of harmful chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), which were reaching the atmosphere and destroying ozone.
