Nobel Prize-winning scientist Peter Higgs has died at the age of  He is best known for his discovery of the God Particle, which had helped explain how the universe was created after the Big Bang.  They were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for the Higgs-boson theory.  The Scottish University confirmed the death, saying he died at home on Monday, April 8, following a short illness.  Higgs has been a professor at Scottish universities for nearly 50 years.
