Many big changes are going to happen in the Indian education sector under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.  In view of the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) brought for implementation of NEP, the CBSE Education Evaluation Department has proposed to conduct Open Book Examination (OBE) as a pilot project in some CBSE schools for classes 9-12.  A CBSE official said, this decision has been taken in the governing body meeting held in 2023 and the pilot project will be conducted soon.
The board has planned to conduct an open book test in its selected schools at the end of the year.  Also, it is going to be introduced as an experiment for the students of class 9th to 12th in the month of November.  With this, students will be able to take the exam by keeping their books, notes or other approved material with them at the time of exam and going through it.
