Success Story: know who is ISRO Chief S Somnath

ISRO Chandrayan 3: Wednesday, August 23, 2023 06:04 pm there was an atmosphere of celebration across the country.  Why not India had conquered the moon.  ISRO's moon mission Chandrayaan 3 had landed safely at the south pole of the moon.  It was a proud moment in the history of the country.  P Veeramuthuval, its project director at ISRO, and his team had worked day and night behind the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission.  The entire operation was under the supervision of ISRO chief S Somnath...today we are going to tell you about him.  Let's get started...

Born in 1963 in Alappuzha district of Kerala, Somnath's full name is Sridhar Parikar Somnath.  He received his early education from local educational institutions.  Somnath then joined TKM College of Engineering in Kollam, Kerala.  He graduated from here with a degree in mechanical engineering.  During his college studies, Somnath was a very bright student.  He then did his post graduation from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore.  He has been a gold medalist here.

Somnath had  interested in science and space since childhood.  In 1985, S. Somnath joined the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.  He started his career with the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).  This program proved to be a game changer in India’s space programme.  Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was the director of the project at the time.  Somnath has been instrumental in developing PSLV.
  Somnath is an expert in many subjects
Scientist and ISRO chief S Somnath is an expert in not one, but many disciplines.  He knows launch vehicle designing, he has specialized in launch vehicle system engineering, structural design, structural dynamics, mechanism design and pyrotechnics.
Now the responsibility of these big missions::
Scientist Dr.  Prior to ISRO, Somnath was also the Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Center and Swimming Propulsion Systems Centre.  These two institutions have been responsible for incorporating technology into the rockets used in most of ISRO's missions.  After Chandrayaan-3, Dr.  S. Somnath will be in command of two major missions.  This includes Aditya-L1 and Gaganyaan.

Significant contribution to the success of ISRO::
Scientist S Somnath was appointed as ISRO chief in January last year.  Before becoming the head of ISRO, S Somnath was the director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC).  His first responsibility of the post of ISRO Chief K. Sivan was handling.  Chrdayaan 2 was launched during the tenure of K Sivan.  .Somnath also developed the engine of the Chandrayaan-2 lander.
