US President Joe Biden will arrive in India on September 7, two days before the G-20 summit. This will be the first time that a US President will stay in India for four days. The G-20 summit will be held on September 9 and10.
This is Biden's first visit to India. Biden will not attend the ASEAN summit in Indonesia, as he has focused on his visit to India. The White House said late Tuesday that Vice President Kamala Harris would replace Biden at ASEAN.
3 days holiday in Delhi:::
The Delhi government has declared a public holiday from September 8 to 10 due to the G-20. All private offices, malls and markets will remain closed. All schools will have 3 days holiday. In fact, the Delhi Police had recommended the government to declare a public holiday over the G-20 summit. The Delhi government then took the decision.
According to media reports, private offices may be directed to work from home. Metro service will continue during this period. However, some metro stations like Supreme Court, Khan Market and Mandi House may be kept closed for security reasons.
