Amit Shah: Government ready for discussion on Manipur, Amit Shah says Opposition should be part of the debate instead of commotion

National desk:
The Opposition in both houses of Parliament is pressing the government for a statement on the Manipur issue.  The Congress wants PM Narendra Modi to make a statement inside the House himself.  Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the government was fully prepared for the Lok Sabha debate on the demands of the Opposition.  The Home Minister said he did not object to the discussion.  He appeals to the Opposition to be part of the discussion on the issue.  It is important that the country also knows the reality of Manipur violence, the government has no objection to debate on this sensitive issue but after a huge commotion in the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings till Tuesday.
On the opening day of the session on Thursday, PM Modi spoke publicly about violence for the first time during his pre-session address at the Parliament premises, where he strongly condemned the incident of two women in Manipur being walked around naked and sexually assaulted by mobs.  The country is ashamed.  I appeal to all chief ministers to strengthen laws to crack down on crime, especially against women.  Whether the incident is in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh or Manipur, the offender should not remain open anywhere.
