The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by the central government seeking to declare cows as the national animal.
A bench of Justice SK Kaul and Justice Abhay S Okar on Monday not only dismissed the petition but also slammed the petitioner.Several organizations including 'Gobansh Seva Sadan' had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the Center to declare cows as the national animal.
The Supreme Court also said that the petitioner should be fined for such petition. The court warned that a fine would be imposed if the application was not withdrawn.
