National Desk:
Oil India Limited (OIL) on Thursday commissioned India's first pure green hydrogen pilot plant with a capacity of 10 kg per day at Jorhat pump station in Assam.  The installation of this hydrogen project has been completed within three months. The project will generate green hydrogen from electricity currently generated by a 500 kW solar project.  which uses 100 kW from an anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyzer array. This project is said to be the first state-of-the-art technology used in India.  Oil India plans to study the use of blended fuels for commercial applications.  For this, a study is being conducted in collaboration with IIT Guwahati on the mixture of clean hydrogen with natural gas and its impact on the existing oil infrastructure.OIL Chairman Sushil Chandra Mishra said the project is expected to increase its green hydrogen production from 10 kg per day to 30 kg per day in the future.India is taking steps to generate clean energy from green hydrogen to reduce carbon emissions. He also said that under the scheme, green hydrogen and green ammonia will be defined as two gases produced by electrolysis of water using hydrogen and ammonia produced from banked renewable energy and biomass.
