External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jayashankar inaugurated the India-Mauritius Friendship Garden in Port Louis and planted a tree there. He was accompanied by Mauritius Foreign Minister Manish Gobin during the groundbreaking ceremony on July 16, Dr. S Jayashankar was on a two-day visit to Mauritius on July 16 and 17, 2024.
After his re-appointment as the External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S Jayashankar's two-day visit to Mauritius was his first bilateral visit to a country. It is also his second visit to Mauritius as Foreign Minister since his visit in February 2021.
Dr. Jayashankar's visit follows the visit of Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 9,2024.
