Nallathambi Kalaiselvi, the first woman director general of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), was given a two-year extension on Tuesday.
A government order said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet had approved the extension of Kalaiselvi’s tenure for a period of two years beyond August 07, 2024 or until the next order, whichever is earlier. He was appointed to the post in August He took over the post after the retirement of Shekhar Mande. Kalaiselvi will also hold charge of CSIR secretary.
