Government appoints Robert J Ravi as CMD, BSNL

The government has appointed Robert Gerard Ravi as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) from July 15 , while the outgoing PK Purwar has been denied service extension, which will BSNL and MTNL from July 2019.
Purwar, who took over as BSNL CMD, had applied for an extension.  His term expired on Sunday (July 14).
 "The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) will shortly officially confirm the appointment of Robert J Ravi as the new CMD of BSNL. No decision has been taken to extend the tenure of the present CMD," government sources told BusinessLine.
