The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced key high-profile appointments to assist the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) to promote medical education and healthcare in India. The association has appointed Dr BN Gangadhar as the new president of the NMC. He served as the interim NMC president after the expiry of Dr Suresh Chandra Sharma's term in September. In addition, he was a past president of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB). In addition, Dr Gangadhar is the former director of the top mental health institute, the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS).
