The Indian government on Tuesday appointed former Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) chief Rajinder Khanna as Additional National Security Advisor (NSA). Rajinder Khanna has been promoted to the post of Deputy National Security Advisor (NSA). TV Ravichandran was appointed deputy NSA in his vacancy.
According to official sources, this is the first time that someone has been appointed to the post of additional NSA. The additional NSA position had always existed, but was still vacant. Rajinder Khanna is known as an expert on Pakistan and terrorism. He also led the operations desk during his previous R&AW chiefship.
