Newsdesk:
Adding another chapter to the state’s efforts to promote green energy, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Janata Bhawan solar project at a function held at the Assam Secretariat premises here on Sunday. It is a grid-connected rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV system with a power generation capacity of 2.5 MW.
The project will generate an average of 3 lakh units of power per month and the investment amount of Rs 12.56 crore is estimated to be recovered over a period of four years, saving about Rs 30 lakh per month.
With the launch of the solar power project, the Assam Secretariat Complex has become the first civil secretariat in the country to rely entirely on solar-generated power for daily consumption.
The 25-year-old solar plant will reduce carbon emissions by 3060 metric tons annually and 76,500 metric tons over its lifetime.
