The Supreme Court has taken another step towards women empowerment in the judiciary.  The Supreme Court has ordered the implementation of one-third reservation for women in the Supreme Court Bar Association.  A bench of Justices Suryakant and KV Viswanathan issued the directions, clarifying the old Supreme Court judgment in the BD Kaushik case.  The bench directed that the post of treasurer of the Supreme Court Bar Association would be reserved for women.  In addition, three out of nine members of the association's working committee will be reserved for women.
