Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said that 14 passengers were killed in a collision between two passenger trains in Andhra Pradesh on October 29,  The driver and assistant driver of one of the trains were watching a cricket match on the phone.  They have linked this to the reason behind the accident.  Last year, more than 50 passengers were injured when a Rayagada passenger train rear-ended a Visakhapatnam Palasa train on the Howrah-Chennai line at Kantakapalli in Vijayanagaram district of Andhra Pradesh.
Railways are working on new safety measures.  The Railway Minister mentioned the train accident in Andhra Pradesh.  According to the agency, he said the accident happened because both the locomotive pilot and co-pilot were distracted by a cricket match.
"We will continue to focus on safety," the Union Railway Minister said.  We try to find the real reason behind every incident and come up with a solution to prevent the accident from happening again.
