Former Chief Minister of Assam and current Union Minister, Rajya Sabha MP Sarbananda Sonowal has announced his candidature for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He will contest from Dibrugarh constituency. However, the formal announcement be made today, March 1, 2024. An important meeting of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda was held in New Delhi on February 28.
The decision on the final list of candidates was be prepared during the Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting at 9 pm yesterday. A 3-member panel has been prepared for each constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Delhi BJP's election committee has presented a list of 25-30 probable candidates to the national leadership, targeting seven Lok Sabha seats in the national capital, according to party leaders on Wednesday.
