TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien announced the decision to suspend Shahjahan from the party soon after his arrest.  Brian said, 'We have decided to suspend Sheikh Shahjahan from the party for 6 years.  As always, we do what we say.  We have set examples in the past and we are doing so today also.
O'Brien targeted BJP in his PC.  He said, 'We challenge the BJP to suspend those leaders against whom there are many criminal cases including corruption.'  Let us tell you that Sheikh was the TMC convenor of Sandeshkhali assembly constituency and was also a member of the party-held North 24 Parganas District Council.
