Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus has won the women's singles title at the Australian Open 2024. In the final match played at Melbourne Park on Saturday (January 27), Sabalenka defeated China's Zheng Qianwen in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. The match between the two players lasted for one hour and 16 minutes. Second seed Sabalenka has won the Australian Open title for the second consecutive time.
Sabalenka said after becoming champion, 'The last few weeks have been wonderful. I couldn't even imagine lifting this trophy again. It's an incredible feeling. I am really amazed. It is difficult to lose in the final but you (Zheng) are a very good player. You are going to play many more finals in the future.'
