Former Congress MLA murdered in Arunachal, shot by suspected militants on Myanmar border

Former Congress MLA was shot dead in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.  Officials said that a suspected terrorist carried out this incident in a village in Tirap district where the former MLA had gone for some personal work.  The incident occurred at around 3 pm near Raho village, which is close to the Myanmar border.

 Giving information about the incident, Tirap SP Rahul Gupta said that former Congress MLA Yamsen Mate along with his three supporters had gone to the village for some personal work, when someone took them to the forest on some pretext and opened fire on them.  Due to which he died on the spot.

 The police have launched a campaign to search for the culprit.  Defense sources have indicated the involvement of NSCN-KYA in the murder of the former MLA.  While the SP refused to comment on the identity of the militant organization.  Mate was elected MLA from Khonsa West assembly constituency on Congress ticket in 2009.  In 2019, National People's Party MLA from Khonsa West assembly constituency Tirong Abo and 10 others were killed by suspected militants.
