Air pollution is continuously increasing in the country's capital Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) and at present there is no hope of relief from the problem.  The overall air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 504 in Delhi on Saturday.  According to experts, a similar situation is likely to prevail in Delhi for the next 15-20 years, hence everyone needs to remain alert and take preventive measures.
In a report, scientists have said that in many parts of Delhi, AQI is touching the figure of 500, which is about 100 times more than the limit set by the World Health Organization.  Along with Delhi, the level of pollution in many other states of the country including Punjab-Haryana has also increased rapidly in the last few years, due to which fears have been raised about serious health-related side effects.
