Indian athlete Avinash Sable created history on Sunday. Avinash won the gold medal in the 3000 meter steeplechase event of the Asian Games-2023 held in Hangzhou, China. Along with making the record, he won the gold medal.

Avinash, who won silver in the Commonwealth Games last year, secured first place with a time of 8.19.54. This is also a record in the Asian Games. This was the 12th gold medal for India in this edition of the Asian Games. Avinash has also become the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal in this event of the Asian Games. Not only this, this is also India's first gold medal in athletics.
