Situation worsens again in Manipur, entire state declared Disturbed Area, internet ban

News desk:
Things have once again deteriorated in the northeastern state of Manipur.  The government has declared the entire state a 'troubled zone'.  The internet has also been banned in view of the tense situation.  The government recently restored mobile internet services on September 23 after incidents of violence declined.

According to a notification issued by the Manipur Home Department today, the Governor is of the opinion that the armed forces are needed to assist civil administration across Manipur due to violent activities of various extremist groups.  These include Imphal, Lamphel, City, Singjamei, Sekmai, Lamasang, Patsoi, Wangoi, Porompat, Heingang, Lamlai, Irilbung, Limakhong, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Nambol, Moirang, Kakching and Jiribam.  However, there is peace in 19 police stations in the state, which have been kept out of the troubled zone.

The situation in the state has become tense again after the death of two missing students.  Students have staged fierce protests in Imphal city and other parts of the valley.  There have been no major incidents of violence, but the situation still remains tense in Manipur.  The streets of Imphal were also filled with commotion and demonstrations on Wednesday night.
