Conclave-2023: Modi's leadership has led to development in all areas of the North East

The Sadin-Pratidin Group Conclave-2023 kicked off at the Ashok Hotel in Delhi on Saturday. The event, which will be inaugurated by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will discuss politics, economy, society, culture, climate and global warming in the North East.
Nirmala Sitharaman officially inaugurated The Conclave-2023 at 11 pm and appreciated the Sadin-Pratidin Group for maintaining the status of the fourth pillar of democracy.
The Union Finance Minister in her speech mentioned various steps taken by the BJP government. She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the North East as India's natural economy. She has a strong belief in the potential of the North East. She has called the North East "India's new growth engine".

She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited the North East 60 times in the last nine years. In addition, the visits of Cabinet Ministers, Union Ministers of State etc. combined have visited the North East a total of 400 times. She said the trip is not for entertainment but to bring together tourism in the North East.
The Modi government has taken various initiatives in its nine years. The Modi government has completed infrastructure projects in the North East that have been delayed for decades. The Bogibil Bridge in Assam (inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, 16 years after the announcement), Bhupen Hazarika Bridge , Dhala-Shadia Bridge were announced in 2003 and inaugurated by the Prime Minister in2017.
Referring to transportation, the Finance Minister said the Pakyong Airport in Sikkim .The North East is connected to the rail network of roads, state capitals of Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura.
Referring to GST in the North East, Sitharaman said the states of the North East have improved in the GST system. The North East has particularly benefited from GST. The GST rate in the North East has been increased to 27.5 per cent from 14 per cent.
Referring to the increase in tax collection in the North East, Sitaraman said tax collection increased from Rs 1.08 lakh crore in 2004-14 to Rs 5.06 lakh crore in 2014-24. Tax collection for Assam increased by 217.71 per cent.
