Quad Foreign Ministers meeting at UNGA in New York: Indirectly attacking China, the Quad Group on Friday reiterated that the development of the Indo-Pacific region hinged on respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. The group expressed grave concern over the militarization of disputed areas, the dangerous use of coast guard and maritime militia vessels and attempts to disrupt offshore exploration activities of other countries. The Ministers stressed that disputes should be resolved peacefully and in accordance with international law without any coercion or use of force.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko held the Quad FM Meeting. "We reaffirm our firm belief that the development of the Indo-Pacific region hinges on respect for international law, sovereignty and territorial integrity and the maintenance of peace and security in the maritime region," a joint statement issued after the meeting said.

China has territorial disputes with several countries in the South and East China Seas. Beijing has also made significant progress in militarizing its man-made islands in recent years. China also has a territorial dispute with Japan in the East China Sea.
