Hangzhou Asian Games: India has expressed strong protest against China's refusal to give entry to some players from Arunachal Pradesh in the Asian Games starting in Hangzhou from 23rd September. Actually, Indian Wushu players were also going to participate in Hangzhou, but three of them, Nyeman Wangsu, Onilu Tega and Mapung Lamgu, were refused entry into China. In protest against this action of China, India's Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has canceled his scheduled visit to China for the Asian Games.
Meanwhile, Union Earth Sciences Minister and Arunachal MP Kiren Rijiju said that I strongly condemn China's move to deny visas to our Wushu athletes from Arunachal Pradesh, who were to participate in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. This violates both the spirit of the game and the rules governing the conduct of the Asian Games, which explicitly prohibit discrimination against competitors from member nations.
Kiren Rijiju said that Arunachal Pradesh is not a disputed area but an integral part of India. The entire people of Arunachal Pradesh strongly oppose any illegal claims of China on their land and people. The International Olympic Committee should stop China's illegitimate actions. We protest, IOC should also protest. India's reaction is correct. The Sports Minister of India is not going on this issue. Rijiju said, 'We oppose China's move and India will respond to it at the right time.'
