The festival is celebrated on the fourth day of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha. It is believed that Ganesha appeared on this day. Ganesh resides on earth, Ganesh Mahotsav continues till Anant Chaturdashi. This year, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi starts from September 19 and will continue till September 28. The festival is celebrated in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.
