The special session of Parliament is scheduled to start on Monday. The national flag was hoisted at the new Parliament House a day earlier. Vice President and Rajya Sabha Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar hoisted the national flag at Parliament House.
Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi and leaders of various parties in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were also present. Before hoisting the flag, Dhankhar and Birla were given a separate guard of honor by the CRPF Parliament Duty Group.
Jagdeep Dhankhar said that this is a historic moment. India is witnessing a change of era. The world is fully recognizing India's strength and contribution. We are living in a time where we are seeing growth, achievements. National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, who was present at the function, said that this was a new chapter in India's history. We have been waiting for the new Parliament House and now that day has come.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge was also invited to attend the function but did not attend. He alleged that he received the invitation too late. He also expressed his displeasure by writing to Rajya Sabha Secretary General PC Modi.
